My parents had their 40th wedding anniversary in 2003 and I knitted a lace shawl for my mum. I knitted it in black pure wool from Shetland Isles wool company.
It was the first lace garment I had ever knitted and was very impressed. Finding something to block it on was a problem but we had some spare steryfoam that was big enough to block all in one go.
The pattern was from a book of lace patterns I bought and is listed in my books section at

Create a blog list from the blog list tab. Select the blog tab and select the settings icon. Then select bloglist tab and check mark the bloglist that you just created. Voila.
I LOVE doing Shetland lace knitting...never thought I'd meet a fellow enthusiast! I knitted a very elaborate baby-shawl for a friends baby (who is now 20 years old!!) - I still have some photos somewhere, which I will try to scan in and upload.
I also like doing Fair-Isle, but lace is more of a challenge.
I buy the wool from Jamieson's Knitwear in Shetland.
I use Jamieson's for my wool. It is the only piece of lace knitting I have ever done. I enjoted it but it seemed to take a long time with the cobweb wool. My sister and sister in law are both pregnant but I won't have time to do lace shawls for them. I am planning some knitted stuff for them.
